Author’s Introduction: Eclipse

Eclipse (Edward) was the final book of the Twilight Saga that I rewrote from Edward Cullen’s point-of-view. Though I never intended to pen the whole saga through Edward’s eyes, once you’ve written the second half of Midnight Sun, all of Breaking Dawn (Edward), and New Moon (Edward), you can’t not complete the one remaining book.

I began writing Edward’s version of Eclipse from the same point as Bella’s version, but ended it a little earlier in order to keep details of Bella and Edward’s engagement within the same book. You’ll find that the meadow engagement scene that appears at the end of Eclipse has been moved to Breaking Dawn in Edward’s version of events. Similarly, the “Epilogue” chapter of the original Eclipse doesn’t pertain to Edward and so the information hinted at there has also been moved to Breaking Dawn from Edward’s point-of-view.

Thank you so much. I am 2/3rds of the way through editing the third draft of my first novel. I think it’s getting close and I hope to publish it within the next few months. (Since it’s my first time, I can’t say exactly how long it will take me to get there, so I’m waiting until it’s closer to finished to announce it.) -PAL

i have always loved this series and i think it completes the series of knowing what Edward was thinking. I have always wanted to picture just what Edward is thinking when bells makes a decision and in this side of the story i don’t have to wonder anymore. I also think it is really cool to have all characters tell their side of the story. It completes the story even more than it was before.

When I first read Stephenie Meyer’s unfinished draft, Midnight Sun, I was thrilled to see what was going on behind the scenes from Edward’s POV; it was more than Bella could have imagined. I found that part of the drama so interesting that I finished Midnight Sun and then continued with the rest of the books, figuring that I wasn’t the only reader who wanted to know what was going through Edward’s mind. I’m glad you’re enjoying my take on Edward’s POV. PAL

You are very welcome! I did my best to follow the history and story lines that Ms. Meyer originally wrote. My goal was to extend the world, not to alter it significantly. It was a lot of fun to play in the Twilight world and I’m so glad you enjoyed it. –Phoebe Ann Lassiter
